Terms such as Eco, Ecological, Eco-Friendly, Environmentally-Friendly can be ambiguous and are not controlled by any European regulations or certification and can therefore confuse the consumer.
Simply put, a material is compostable when it can be consumed by naturally occurring micro-organisms under normal conditions, thereby transforming it into a biomass.
